LG Flip Phone Running Android to Arrive in the UK

Flippin’ ‘eck, I never expected this!

Last week I commented on how Samsung and LG were to release two new flip/clamshell phones running Android. These were destined (as with other Android clamshell phones) for Far East markets, with little chance of them reaching Europe, let alone the UK.

Today, according to Android Central, the LG “Gentle” will indeed reach the Europe – and the UK – later this month.

The handset will be rebranded the LG Wine Smart (presumably due to the colour, rather than its sommelier credentials).

There are no details about pricing, availability or carriers yet, though I would expect that this is probably going to be chosen by networks such as O2 who do like to pick a few unusual handsets for their range.

The handset will most likely be available directly from LG and may be stocked by the usual online retailers such as Amazon and eBay fairly soon.
