It's a sad fact that weekends are rarely the best time for great mobile industry news or announcements.
This weekend is as dry as my village in Hampshire (which somehow managed to completely avoid the thunderstorms that ascended the UK last night).
Normally, there would be some sort of tech deal that I'd find which might be worth mentioning, but no.
This is the quietest weekend that I can remember, so my blog will remain a bit sparse.
However, I am testing new technology:
I'm posting to my blog by email, as a test.
If this works, I'll be able to (hopefully) post during the week, as my internet access during working hours is very restricted - due to the pleasure of working in a secure environment where all the working PCs are still running Windows XP and the internet is served up by IE7 at dial up speeds, if I'm lucky.
My last blog was in 2003, so I don't really know why it has taken me so long to take to my keyboard/touchscreen to get this blog off the ground.
Maybe it's because I'm older and wiser.
I may have missed out on blogging about the golden era of mobile phones (2000-2011), but thankfully the UK consumer sector is beginning to look a tad more vibrant and competitive - In part due to Three's #makeitright campaign, and some of the smaller MVNOs realising that there's some money to be made around the £10/month bundle pricing structure.
These are the first signs of the prepay market changing, which is great news for consumers because this area has stagnated for over a year.
It may not be the most exciting turn of events, but it paves the way for some decent change in the near future.
Of course, I am looking forward to FreedomPop entering the UK market - beta testing is due to begin this month, so watch this space.
