Samsung have stated that they intend to issue monthly software patches for their Android devices (though I'll be happier when they say that they will support all of their devices, rather than some of the cherry-picked flagship devices).
Since the Stagefright vulnerability, other Android device manufacturers are starting to announce that they too will be issuing monthly patches - Huawei and now LG have mentioned that this is on the cards.
I applaud these manufacturers for taking security seriously, but would like to know which devices will be benefiting from this added protection - It's going to be a incredibly insecure world if only current high-end devices receive patches.
I mentioned in a blog post yesterday how fragmentation is making Android a risky operating system.
Unless such vulnerabilities are plugged across the entire Android OS, many people may one day dread receiving any emails which proudly proclaim in the signature "Sent from my Android device".
